“Trieciens” in Latvian means impact or punch. In 2017 I’ve organized a group of drummers and we were performing at animal rights protests in Riga. For example at the one against use of wild animals in circus. My drumming band was based on idea of Rhythms of Resistance , it’s a project which provides you with instructions, notation and ideas on how to organize a drumming group yourself.
It was nice experience, but after a while I’ve moved away from Latvia, and so the project stalled. I hope to do something like this again in the future.
During the years I was recording and composing numeral songs which were about human rights, animals, ecology, injustice, inequality and on many other important topics. Music is incredibly good medium for that. But somehow “Take It Off” felt more special and more powerful than the others. I am really proud to be part of this project
This song is dedicated to the women of Iran and the people supporting their fight for freedom.
CONSERVATION MUSIC

I compose and recorded this song as way to protest and also inform the people about this terrible tradition. You can hear sounds of the pilot whales in this song. I recorded them myself during an acoustic research in Tenerife. And later created music with their sounds.
I love this connection of nature and animals sounds together with music. It’s called “conservation music” and that’s something I plan to work more in the future.
The whole project consisted of several stages
